Film

Its time to see what films I’ve been researching and here they are.

Surprise surprise its the Jurassic Park trilogy.

The original Jurassic Park was released in 1993 and then the sequels in 1997 and 2000.I’m sure most people reading this will have seen most of the films so I don’t need to go in depth about the story.

I chose to focus my research here because I.L.M. were the first innovators using 3D back when the first film was released, the concepts and artists who worked on the project managed to create the most realistic or believable creatures in cinema history…. wate this should be in my diss…. ok back on topic, I looked at how the creatures moved and acted also tried to find concepts, behind the scenes and good movement clips etc. I will have a image file in my final hand in with some inspirational imagery help my concept work.

Below are a few cool scenes from all three films. (NOTE: If you don’t like seeing a dude getting ripped in half by two T-Rexs don’t bother with the second vid.)

Kong

Peter Jackson’s portrail of Kong was true Jackson epic but long very long, any way released in 2005 Kong uses some of the best CG in the film biz. My main research was on the V-Rex, ok yes the name does suck but I found the idea around this concept quite interesting and the concept artists did a good job of answering the question “If they survived what would a dinosaurs look like now?”

Heres the only clip of the V-Rex fight with Kong its embedded so you’l have to go to youtube.com to watch it sorry.

Disney’s Dinosaur

I was told to check this film out by a mate and I thought why not, I’ve mostly been researching adult orientated and gritty films so I decided to see what was out there for the younger audience and I was quite surprised. Dinosaur works on having real time backgrounds and CG dinosaurs, the characters are well done, likable, full of character and highly detailed. Disney’s Dinosaur has been good research in my quest to find out how to give something character.

Below is the trailer for Disney’s Dinosaur.
